Research interests
In theoretical linguistics I am interested in syntax, semantics, pragmatics and their interfaces, more specifically:

  • syntax: the C-T-system, sideward movement, locality

  • syntax-semantics interface & semantics: coordinations and parallel structures, ellipsis (esp. gapping, right node raising), information structure (topicality, contrast, focus), negation, questions

  • pragmatics: speech acts, common ground management, discourse particles

  • phonology: accents and phrasing (in relation to information structure)

I am also interested in experimental investigations in some of the above areas. I have conducted empirical studies on:

  • the acceptability of topic constructions

  • memory effects of topic and focus marking

  • the acceptability of question coordinations

  • coordinations with and without ellipsis in speech production
