Während ihres Aufenthalts in Köln wird Frau Levy-Forsythe mit dem Projekt B04 "Interaction of nominal and verbal features for Differential Object Marking" zusammenarbeiten.

Zarina Levy-Forsythe (Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Beer Sheva, Israel) is a first year PhD Student working on morpho-syntactic and semantic properties of direct objects in Uzbek, her native language, which belongs to the Southeastern (Karluk) branch of the Turkic family. Her dissertation topic builds on her Master’s thesis, entitled “Object incorporation in Uzbek”, and aims to broaden the scope of the previous investigation to develop a more nuanced picture of direct object constructions in the language. The doctoral project is supervised by Dr. Olga Kagan (Ben-Gurion University of the Negev).

During her stay in Cologne, Ms. Levy-Forsythe will collaborate with the project B04 “Interaction of nominal and verbal features for Differential Object Marking”. In particular, she will work with Prof. Klaus von Heusinger and Semra Kızılkaya on the micro-level variation in DOM between the closely related Uzbek and Turkish languages. In addition, she looks forward to contributing to Prof. Dr. Klaus von Heusinger’s and Prof. Dr. Jaklin Kornfilt’s investigation of partitivity and case marking in Turkic languages.

Furthermore, she will extend her own study of object incorporation in Uzbek, collaborating with and drawing from the research of Elyesa Seidel, whose doctoral project examined incorporation in Turkish. Ms. Levy-Forsythe also will give a talk on “Incorporation in Uzbek” at the Linguistischer Arbeitskreis (LAK).
