The syntax and semantics of internal arguments

The International Workshop ´The syntax and semantics of internal arguments´ will take place at the University of Bucharest (Romania), October 24-25, 2019 and is organized by Klaus von Heusinger (University of Cologne) and Alina Tigău (University of Bucharest).

The workshop aims at discussing recent theoretical and experimental research in syntax, semantics and pragmatics, with a focus on topics such as argument structure, the projection of the arguments, the  syntax and semantics of Differential Object Marking (DOM), accusative and dative pronominal clitics, Clitic Doubling (CD), incorporation and the status of arguments, case assignment a.o. Some of the questions we would like to address would be the following:

  1. How are internal arguments hierarchically projected?
  2. How do they get their case assigned? Does case assignment depend on their DP/KP/NP type? Do the mechanisms of DOM or CD have a say in this respect?
  3. Is there a correlation between the syntax and the semantics of  DP/KP/NP types?
