Lektor/Lektorin am Pembroke College University of Cambridge - October 2024-June 2025

Would you like to spend nine months in one of Cambridge University’s oldest colleges? Each year we appoint from the University of Cologne a Lektorin / Lektor to teach around 8 sixty-minute sessions per week with our undergraduates in groups of 1-3. There are around 20 weeks teaching in total. The Lektorin / Lektor mainly teaches German conversation and gives some assistance with translation and writing in German for students of (as usual) of Pembroke, Selwyn and Queens’, now also for those of Trinity. She / he:

  • gets reimbursement of his/her visa costs
  • lives free of charge in college
  • receives an allowance of £ 4500 (paid over three instalments)
  • is allowed the privileges of college members (e.g. is treated as a full member of the graduate community)

The post is an excellent opportunity for someone preparing a Masterarbeit or a Doktorarbeit (although all applications will be considered!) – as there is plenty of time to attend lectures and seminars of your choice and to devote to your own work.

To apply, please send: a letter explaining your current status and interests, a CV, a letter of reference and contact details electronically by March 23 to:

Professor Dr CJ Young
