Germanistische Linguistik zwischen Köln und Tokio (German Linguistics between Köln and Tokio)

Grammar in the field of tension between syntax and semantics

3rd international workshop of the University of Cologne and the University of Tokyo.

The 3rd International Workshop of the series German Linguistics between Cologne and Tokyo (GAKT) will take place at the University of Cologne from January 25 - 26, 2018.

The main goal of the workshop series is to examine selected linguistic phenomena of German and Japanese from a contrastive perspective, to compare them with each other and to embed them in a theoretical discussion. Especially investigations on typologically unrelated languages often lead to a striking linguistic diversity.

The annual workshop is based on the idea of systematically parameterizing this grammatical diversity. Profound insights into contrasts between German and Japanese grammar contribute to a better and deeper understanding not only of grammar rules of individual natural languages, but also of cognitive language processes in general.

Date: 25.-26. January 2018
Place: House of Prominence, Luxemburger Straße 299, 5. Stock (Spitzboden)
Organisation: Chair of Prof. Dr. Klaus von Heusinger
