Germanistische Linguistik zwischen Köln und Tokio (German Linguistics between Cologne and Tokio)

Information structure in semantics and syntax

5th International Conference of the University of Cologne and the University of Tokyo

The 5th International Conference of the series German Linguistics between Cologne and Tokyo (GAKT) will take place at the University of Cologne from February 10-11, 2020. The doctoral conference is organized by the Institute for German Language and Literature I, Department of Linguistics at the University of Cologne and the SFB 1252.

Under the title Information Structure in Syntax and Semantics, this year's meeting focuses on the investigation of the mechanisms by which grammatical expressions are integrated into discourse.

In 9 lectures, PhD students from the University of Tokyo and the University of Cologne will approach this topic, each of which will be complemented by a commentary by experienced scholars. This discursive format aims at an intensive scientific exchange, which also offers the speakers space to further develop their work.
